How concerned are you about your rebuild considering you don't own your draft picks?

How concerned are you about your rebuild considering you don't own your draft picks? I'm well aware that it is going to be a long rebuild. I'm gearing it more towards the 1990 season when I have my own and the Pistons' 1st round picks. I'm also freeing up salary this year and next so that I can try to hit the free agency market to build around Rose, Barry and Mason and try to survive. We only have $25,760,000 in guaranteed contracts next year, and just $5.6 million the year after that (when Rose becomes a FA, unless we extend his contract, which is likely).

Have you made any overtures towards getting any of your future picks back, or are you more hoping to just compete until you have your future back in your own hands?

We're just looking to tread above water the next couple of years. We probably won't sign guys longer than two years unless we get lucky in free agency.

I know from your TBs that you were not going to just move the GOAT for scraps. So my question is, When the opportunity came to trade the Jumpman and acquire Shaq, was it your intention to move him (Shaq) as fast as possible? Also are you happy for your overall haul from moving MJ? (Warriors '90 1st, Burleson, $500 (I believe))
Bonus Question: Do you regret moving Marc Gasol now that you have traded the shaqtus?

I noticed you have nearly $40M coming off the books this offseason. Any particular need you're looking to address? Also: I like DRose a lot the more he's progressed - what are your future plans with him? Is he a Clipper4lyf? Wanna trade him to the Lakers? lol

No we had no intention of trading Shaq as quickly as we did when we got him. But when you start something like 3-18, you realize pretty quickly that you can lose just as easily without a $27 million center who doesn't get 20ppg. I don't necessarily regret trading Gasol because we probably would have had to overpay to keep him, and Asik is a pretty similar player.

We plan on just filling the team around those guys for a couple of years until the 90 draft when we can hopefully reload. And yes, the plan is for Rose to be a Clipper for life. But as I've seen and experienced, offering that 7th year doesn't always get the job done.

I've always felt re-signing rookies was the most stressful part of this league for me, so many camps invested and they could just walk. Speaking of free agency, any particular thoughts on the direction you may want to go? Any specific names you'd like to add (is tampering a thing in this league?)?

Without mentioning specific names, a young star SF or young star C. Anything that will improve the team. Or we might just use stop gaps and make our pick as good as possible without truly tanking. That's only an option if we can't lure anyone good.

Do you feel like rose got snubbed from the R/S game?
